Questions & Answers
On this page I'll post answers to questions I get via email, Facebook, in person or the Blog. If I can keep up with the volume, I'll even hopefully add some of the most pertinent questions I've answered at the various Meet the Candidate events.

- The Barony has always had a Baron and Baroness, how will you be able as a single person serve the Barony? Is this job feasible for a single person?
While I have not served as a baroness in the past, I am familiar with the role and its responsibilities. I met with several of the historical baronesses, and two barons, to discuss the responsibilities for this role. I was particularly interested in learning about challenges in the role, and unexpected experiences they had when they served. In these conversations, I have learned more about what it means to serve as a baroness, and understand that this will be a good learning experience for me. These conversations allowed me to confirm that my recent roles have helped to prepare me for some of the requirements, including travel and participation in both kingdom and society events. As well, I have been fortunate to work with each of the current territorial baronage, and have a good relationship with them. I hope that this will enable me to better serve the Kingdom of Ealdormere as a territorial baroness, as well as our barony.
I'm not convinced that this is a job for a single, or even two people. The Barony of Rising Waters is a vibrant community, and we have a strong lean into service. While I am applying for the role of Baroness, I know that the job itself involves more individuals than those who hold the positions. I am fortunate to have such a supportive network, and I reached out to my own dependents to confirm their willingness to support me in this adventure. Is this job feasible for a single person? Not if they're doing without support - and that is the key, I think.
2. How will you support the communities of Heavy Fighting, Archery and Thrown Weapons? You mention that you are a beginning fencer, will that continue when you become Baroness?
Many may not realize, but I was a warranted heavy fighter in An Tir. Schooling, work and family commitments got in the way once I moved to Ealdormere, but over time I've been able to manage those commitments better - and I am a warranted archery marshal, a marshal-in-training for thrown weapons, and learning how to fence. I love it! I hope to be warranted in rapier this Summer. While I can't see myself as a competitive fencer, I will enjoy the experience.
However, your question was not just about my own involvement in the marshal arts, but about the support I can provide. I would like to work with the Baronial Council to do two things: support local residents in their marshal interests by coordinating attendance at available practices, and investigate re-starting our own practices. These weekly events, at one time, were great for bonding the community together, and I really want to see that happen again. Besides, a solitary baroness will require champions and sergeants to protect her and her barony.
